|
|
Hi all
I've had a PM from someone wanting to join Group I, saying that they've done their 100 posts.
Unfortunately, they totally missed the point of where the posts were to go. Instead of posting them on participating members' forums, he/she has gone on posted 100+ messages on a totally separate board!!
This does seem a totally innocent and unfortunate misunderstanding, but I have said to the individual that it depends on the other members as to whether he/she is admitted.
So......... please post a reply and tell me if you are happy or unhappy about this person joining the group.
Thanks

| Who is it and where did she post? Adi's  might be enough to sway me, though. |

| Hmm, i would be a little hesitant, Yes skyraider has 199 posts there but it is only average of about 66 a month. I would be hesitant, but would be willing to accept a go as long as they actually understand where the posts for the exchange need to be made. |

Very exciting that another member is interested in joining the group.
But I can't find any reference to namepros.com on this board, except in this thread.
Where did that come from?
When the posttrade has strict rules like not meeting the quota even by a couple of posts, kicks a member out of the group, I don't think it is fair to admit a member who has contributed 0 posts to the group (as far as I know).
On top of that, I think that members should spread their posts around, at least roughly evenly, in all the member's boards. Even with the confusion, there was no attempt to spread the love in this case...
After thinking through this I think that there should be an official guideline added that indicates that members should attempt to contribute to all member boards, it doesn't have to be a stricty percentage, but it shouldn't be completely left up to the niceness of members either. The exception being if a member has only 1 board with the topic being professional underwater basket weaving.
Thoughts? |

| Maybe something that could be considered before accepting posts to join the post exchange is to require news members to contact aaron or post in the group they wish to join saying i will be posting on boards x, x and x and will contact again when i have reached the required postings. This will allow for new members to say which boards they post at, Also if a new member comes along saying i want to join and post at namepros.com we can go Hang on they are not part of the deal. |

| Maybe requiring new members to post in the stats thread, using the required format, would help them understand which boards they should be posting on. They can post the stats thread first, then go start posting on the boards they selected to put in the stats thread. I'm sure someone would pick up on a problem earlier that way. |

I've read everyone's comments (thank you) and, there seems to be a division in opinions, so I need to come to a decision on this. I've decided to admit this new member as I feel that we are at a stage in the development of the exchange group where we still need to be as accommodating to new members, and I genuinely believe this has been a very unfortunate and innocent oversight.
That being the case, please say a big welcome to our new member, skyraider.
